ABOUT ROCH DEFAYETTE

I was born in Gatineau (Hull sector), Quebec, Canada in 1961. I began painting at the age of 21 years old intuitively knowing that I would, one day, become a painter. I developed my own style in 1992 and I consider myself to be a surrealist painter.

ANNOUNCEMENT

One of my painting is featured in the new "Diana in Art" coffee table book, compiled by Mem Mehmet, to commemorate the tragic death of the Princess Lady Di.

Diana, Princess of Wales, became the queen of people’s hearts. Her genuine warmth and ability to be empathetic to others, young and old alike, earned her overwhelming affection around the world and her beauty and charisma made her an instant star with the world’s press.

Diana in Art features portraits from over 150 artists from around the world including Brian Organ, whose seminal image is now hanging in the National Portrait Gallery in London, Israel Zohar, Duggie Fields, and Andre Durand. The book features American artists including the jacket artist Andrea Saltzman, as well as Andy Warhol and Ralph Wolfe Cowan (whose portrait of Elvis hangs in Graceland) along Ron Keas, (whose portrait of Marilyn Monroe was on the back cover of "Marilyn in Art" by Roger Taylor.   It also includes many Canadians: Kenn Burkitt (a portrait that is made up entirely of diamonds—probably fake!), Roch Defayette, the surrealist painter and Rob Surette (TV’s ‘Fastest Portrait Painter in the World’).

I am an amateur entomologist as well as the owner of a world-wide collection of insects and butterflies.I did exibit my collection at the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Gatineau held from August 31 to September 3, 2007. It was a big succes. See page insect show for pictures.
